12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS SONG
Ever wonder why a partridge in a pear tree? Or how about 8 maids a milking and so on?
As Paul Harvey would say…”Here is the Rest of the Story.”
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Mat the w, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation..
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

TEA AT THE GOVERNoRS MANSION
Here is some random pictures from our outing today. Every year in Marshall Mi they have tea at the Governors Mansion. My Mom and motherinlaw used to go every year. So now that my mother has passed on me and my daughter are taking on the tradition. It is called the Governors Mansion because I guess Marshall was being considered as a place for the capital so they bought a house in case the city was chosen. Now The Daughters Of The American Revolution group keep it up.

I do not know who this man is I was getting ready to take and picture of the house he was there. He said to me oh you don't want me in the picture and I said oh that is fine. So off his hat came and he posed for me. I think we made his day that always makes you feel so good when you make someone else feel good.
PICTURE AND A STORY

I bet you are thinking what in the world she talks about Christ in Christmas then here is her daughter with santa claus. Here is an answer no we do not believe in santa clause nor do we teach our children to. I just mostly put it on so you could see the most recent picture of my daughter and there is a little story that goes with the picture. Here is the story every year my Husbands work has a big Christmas dinner for all the employees which we attend. For the kids to get the big bag of candy they give away you guessed it they have to do the whole lap sitting thing with santa. My daughters take on it is I get candy and my picture took. So this is what we did yesterday is had lunch with my husband and it is so worth it you gets lots of food. We had ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and rolls. The best part was I did not have to cook any of it! Then off to wal mart we went because our cats were not very happy without food. On to the homestead for the usual night chores. That was our day in a nutshell. Hope you all have a great day today and God bless Rebekah.

At least they go and have a good time. I will be using recipes I got from Melanie over at the www.adorkablerecipes.blogspot.com. She has some great cookie recipes there go on over and check it out. CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR THE FARM
Well as you can see the Christmas present for the farm is a new tractor. My husband and son have been waiting with excitement for it to come. You might ask why a new one? With out going into alot of farm lingo you might not understand I will just say it is bigger and more power. It will help us get our work done quicker and a lot less stress on a bigger tractor.
