Hello

Hello Everyone, hope this blog post finds you well. We are doing great here on the farm! Lots going on as usual. Farmers markets are still going for me until the end of October. Lots being done on the farm. Hubby just planted rye and did our fourth cutting of hay. The next thing will be planting our winter wheat. School has resumed for another year. We just took two pigs in to the butcher. I cannot wait to get our meat back. Nothing like farm raised bacon! I have sold two of my milk cows since I last posted so we are only milking 2 cows. Chores are alot easier! The soap buisness is doing great keeping me and my daughter very busy. Have a great day! Rebekah

Drought

Thought I would update on what has been happening here on the farm. Where are farm is loacated here in Michigan has been in a severe drought. It seems like when it rains it all goes north or South. We have at least 30 acres of corn that will have no corn and not sure about the rest of the crops yet. We did get a first and second cutting of hay. Third cutting was not good. With no rain doubt we will get anymore cuttings. We harvested our wheat as you know and that was a good harvest. We took 15 cows to town a week ago. We are trying to make sure we are going to have enough feed to get through the winter. Well I think that about covers it just keep praying for rain as we still need it.

Our summer is going by so fast! We only have four weeks till the kids go to fair. I have been making lots of soap for the farmers market. We baled lots of straw and we have a new addition to the house as you can see my niece is rocking him in the doll cradle. His name is Ashton and he is just the sweetest little cat. We are in a drought here and if we do not get rain soon our crops will be pretty much a loss. Hope all is well with everyone in blog land. Grandaughter

Catch Up

Good Morning! Today is my day off so spending it with the kids. We are going junk picking at a local town today. Yesterday was their city wide garage sale so today they throw everything out. Hoping to find lots of good stuff. Since last time I posted we have 2 beef calves we are now mothering. Their moms decided not to so we are the new mommies. I have been very busy doing markets and they have been busy. Lots of soaps have been sold and lots have been made to restock. Hubby has all his crops planted and first cutting hay done. Him and the boy are working on fixing a tractor right now. The farm work is mostly caught up but there is always something to do. The kids will both be taking cows for
4-H again this year. My son will do dairy starter and beef. The daughter is only doing dairy starter. We have a small garden this year few potatoes, tomatoes, green peppers and some green beans will probally go in yet. Hope all is well with evryone in blog land. Have a great day!

Long Time

Hello everyone, sorry it has been so long since I posted. Lots of things happening here on the farm. We have all our crops planted for the season, first cutting of hay is baled and wrapped. We have 11 new beef calves and four more mamas to calve yet. We just got new pigs as you can see in the picture. Only we have 4 instead of 2. Farmers markets have started once again. I do markets Tuesday thru Saturday. So I'm doing markets, trying to keep thigs stocked up as they sell and take care of everything at home. I have lots of new soaps and will get pictures posted of them. Hope you all have a great weekend!
