Canning Canning

Pictures of our bountiful harvest.

Well I have been canning for the last three days. Tuesday and Wednesday I did beans an a few carrots. I finished up the beans , carrots and tomatoes today. I still have more carrots to pull and do. Beets and corn also. In about 2 weeks I'm going to get a couple bushel of peaches. Lots of work but so good to see how the Lord provides for us. It will taste so good this winter. Matt, my dad and the kids have went to Atlanta Indiana today for a seed corn dinner today. So it was just me, my mother-in-law and my niece who I watch 4 days a week. So without the husband and kids home today I got alot accomplished. Very quite here today nice and relaxing.

Home From The Fair

Well we made it back home today from the fair this morning. It was fun but tiring week. The kids did well Avery got reserve champion on his market goat, fourth place on his market steer and Kassandra got third place on her dairy starter calf. They both got an A award on their feed records for cows and Avery got a B award on his goat feed records. They also got some blue ribbons for other things. Avery also got held back from his group of kids in showmanship to go to the final round which was good for his first year. I have took alot of pictures and when I get time I will post them. It was a nice week of seeing friends and family although we were so busy we did not have much time to sit and talk with anyone. Never knew how much work cows were now I do alot more than goats. We loved it though and the kids are each taking dairy starter calves an beef steers. We will start working on next year in Dec. so I will get a few months break. Walter was a complete angel. Everybody commented on how good he was and I thought man you did not see this cow at home. All the work and prayers worked. I just praise the Lord he was so good. Well time to head off for night chores. God bless.

A Boy And His Truck

Thought I would share this precious photo of my son and the truck. He worked all weekend on this truck. It quit running something on the ignition broke. So he tore it all apart figured it out and with just one question dad answered it now runs. He was so proud of this and so was mom. Mind you he is only 13. So I thought this was pretty good.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE

Luke 1:37
For nothing is Impossible with God.

Luke1:45
Blessed is she who has believed that which the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!

The Lord is so awesome these verses are so encouraging to me because I know with God all things are possible no matter what. Sometimes I know we think there is no way but we have to remember The Lord says in Isaiah 55:8 " For my thoughts are not your thoughts Neither are your ways my ways" , declares the lord. As it also says above If we believe what he says it will be accomplished. So hang on to God's promises and words he gives us in the Bible. It will all work out for our good.

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Trip To The Hospital

Well last night was going great. We went to fair to set up our pens for the goat barn. Had a big storm well we were there but it passed by very quickly. Avery went to get some things in another barn for the pens and got stung twice by a bee. Everything seemed fine got pens done and towards the end he said lets go my feet are itching bad. I did not think nothing of it and we left. We went to get pizza and was about half way home he said he did not fell well. My husband turned to look and said he is broke out an his lips are swelled up. So we got off at next exit went to the hospital. Got there and they said we will give him some medicine he will be fine. So I thought good we will be out of here in no time not. They gave him benadryl and steroids through a Iv as soon as it hit his blood stream his body had a reaction. So bad they had to hook up an IV and run fluids through him to get his body to stop the reaction. I was never so scared in my life and this was suppose to help. So we got home about 11:00 and he is doing just fine Praise the Lord. An no he has never ever had a reaction before. So this was scary. God is good and got us through it. But know the Lord has set apart the Godly for himself ; the Lord hears when I call to him. Psalm 4:3

Newest Addition To The Farm

This is our new addition He was born last night about 11:30 p.m. What a fun time it was. The mother could not have him on her own so at 9:30 at night we had to go in the pasture mind you it is pitch dark find the mom and load her in the trailer. Then pull the trailer up park under the mercury light so we can see what we are doing. She was not a happy camper so when we finally got her tied up then we pulled the baby. It took three of us to pull him. He is a big bull. After all that mom and baby are doing fine. They went back to the pasture tonight so they could be with the other cows. What a joy it is to have the privilage to do what we do. Every we time we have one of these new blessings on our farm wheter a goat or calf it just reminds me of how great God is. What power he has and what he can do for us. Nothing is to big for My God.

Dad Helping Kids Get Things Done

The kids and Dad getting the roof on the camper tared so we don't get wet at fair if it rains.
Dad Helping Kassandra get her calf shaved. Such a big job for a ten year old good thing for Dad.
Will share more pictures as I have them. Today has been another day of getting ready. I feel like we got alot accomplished today. We have to do our groceries shopping for fair, cut goats hoofs and just wrap up a few loose ends. All in all We are as ready as we are going to get. The kids animals are doing very good. Just trusting in the Lord that everything will go well for fair. If not then we will look at it as a lesson he has for us to learn. Well got to run going with my hubby to get hay for the cows.

Early Morning Writing

Hello all been a few days since I wrote. Not much going on around here. Just keep doing fair things everyday maybe we will get done sometime.

Saturday we went to the park and had a cook out with my family. It was a nice day to just get to sit and do nothing. Well there my mother-in-law twisted her knee and fell. Needless to say we made a trip to the emergency room. Luckily she was o.k. just a sprain. She just has to take it easy and walk on it a little. She went to stay with her sister because we are so busy right now. Her sister and husband are both retired so they can help her more than I could right now. I really thank God for family.

We are anxiously waiting the birth of another calf. This will be our last one for the season. We artifically bred this year that is why we ended up with such late calves. We bought a bull a few months back. So hopefully we will have early calves next year. We have nine cows to have calves next year. The kids should have more of a choice for fair calves for 2011.

So peaceful this morning well I write this morning everybody is still sleeping. I have all my chores done except feeding calves which is no big deal. My son gave me strict orders the other day how I need to get on a schedule before fair gets here. I'am thankful for children if it was not for him I might not of got on one. It is really nice I get chores done early come in have coffee and alone time before everybody gets up.

On the agenda today is fixing a bigger bed in the camper for me and my husband. We usually sleep the week of fair on a twin bed not good. What that means is we don't get much sleep. We have to shave some more goats and the cows. Got to buy groceries yet for the week. Get the camper packed and figure out what weneed to buy for fair yet.The kids also need to go get buyers yet for their animals. Just tie up all the loose ends which Will probally happen the day before. Yikes so much to do so little time.

I just have to remember as Psalms 28:7 says The Lord is my strength and my shield my heart trusts in him and I'am helped My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

I will end with that have a great day everybody and God bless you.
